Hey folks!
I'm going to start work on a new project soonish and I'm thinking about using a trem other than the Floyd Rose.
I've heard of, but never tried/witnessed a Wilkinson trem. So does anyone have experience and opinions of this model?
Or any other suggestions or opinions for trems?
Things I'd like to know: Stability (although this project is not about having a trem for me to welly to heck out of), sustain, smoothness/feel, prettiness, what are the best wines to drink with it.. anything.
Cheers smile.gif

Wilkinson is non-locking so you aren't gonna be able to go all "Vai" on it. tongue.gif Most stable trem on the market IMO is the Ibanez ZR trem. It is locking and used Ball bearing to pivot on so there is no wear.

I'm not planning on swinging it around my head by the trem bar or using it as a diving board so no worries there smile.gif
I've tried the ZR trem. Agreed it's incredibly stable but didn't feel as natural as the Edge's. The ZR trems aren't as readily available - I forgot to mention that I need a trem for a new guitar that I'm making so I just need the trem and I'd hate to butcher a nice S-series Ibanez just to have the trem off it.

I have one if you want to try it out...I have an Edge Zero as well. Same thing as a ZR except uses the knife edges instead of the bearings. I think Kjutte and Marc Maiden use and Edge Zero so they could comment more on it. I have one but never installed it and probably never will. I'm kind of done with new guitars for A LONG time...I got plenty. tongue.gif laugh.gif

I have a Wilkinson tremolo on one of my guitars! Coupled with locking tuners, you won't need a Floyd Rose ever again IMO!
