This past weekend was Memorial Day here in the US and I felt compelled to thank each and everyone of you who have served your country. So that being said, THANK YOU!

I know some won't agree with all that's going on in the world today and I respect all opinions. Just wanted to say thanks to those who put themselves in harms way. So Thank You Again!

I have no respect for these people as killing people for any reason is wrong. They aren't totally to blame of course. It is the corrupt governments in the world driving the world to this.

The reason you aren't speaking German right now is because of those people.

That's not totaly true, OC sais it's the corrupt governments. With that he means (sorry if I'm wrong) that the commanders are the ones to blame. I wouldn't speak German in the first place if Adolf didn't get to the German top. This is a connection with OC's statement, it's not the soldiers, it's their commanders who kill.

Well I think this is a bit of a dangerous thing to talk about if you don't want to insult anybody so here's my disclaimer biggrin.gif :
I don't have anything against Germans
I don't want to offend Praetorian

Uh Oh, hope this don't start anything. Just wanted to say thank you to those who provide a blanket of protection for there countries citizens. Government poilicy is definitely a matter of opinion but for the soldiers it is a matter of being called to duty. Let's try to keep this thread "clean" for the people who deserve the respect.

I have lost freinds in the military and Memorial day always gets me thinking about them and there families so wanted to say thank's to those who are still with us. smile.gif

Ok, I'm ruling this out of order - not because anyone is wrong, but because this discussion can't end well.

My observation as a European living in the USA is that the 2 geographies have a very different viewpoint in this area, so I wouldn't expect any sort of agreement here. I would however expect a large argument to develop.

Skennington started this thread for honourable reasons, and I imagine that US readers are a little surprised at the reception it got. On the other hand, Europeans are probably surprised that he started it in the first place.

Noone is being singled out here but I think this thread should end now for the good of trans-atlantic relations!
