Practicing In Eb Tuning

Apr 6 2009, 09:58 PM	Learning Rock Star Posts: 502 Joined: 6-February 09 From: israel	its a tough question. i had to wonder this myself just a couple of days ago. i decided that until i have a very defined clear taste and skill in music its better if i stay in reg tuning. bending is much easier in Eb so practicing bending in E and than going to Eb would look like a dream. think of it like weights if you use 10 kilo weights to practice 5 kilos would look like a breeze. anyways i consider playing in E more difficult so going from E to Eb is easier so i would stay in E while practicing unless you only practice those songs you listen to and not techniques and other things You are at GuitarMasterClass.net Don't miss today's free lick. If you tune to Eb keep in mind that your whole neck changes your F won't be Fs anymore, they will be E and so on to every note. Be aware of that fact because sometimes people forget about that. You should always have a guitar with standard tuning but you can practice in any tuning if you prefer. This is especialy the case if you have a guitar with floyd rose. Many times people called me 1 hour before a gig to replace their guitarist. If I had to tune from Eb to standard, I would lose 45 min just for that. I understand that all the notes change in placement by using this or any other altered tuning. If I am in Eb tuning, I would move all notes up one fret for them to be in standard? A quick question for Kris. Are you really tone deaf? I am too! Is this the reason why I have sooooooooooooo much trouble trying to figure out riffs from listening to the recordings? I will listen to the lesson that is using standard E tuning, and i will be tuned down to Eb, and it is not an impediment, I just do what he does, just a semitone lower. I just find for most of the styles you find here, the benefits of Eb overwhelm those of E, no matter what gauge of string you use. That is one of the things I learned here, or that made sense to me based on what I have seen here. Even if nobody exactly tells you to do something, if you pay attention to them, and put things together, you come up with things. They may not even agree with your perspective, but you still mostly got that perspective from the same people who maybe don't agree with you, from observing them and putting them together. My teacher is this big monster made up of Kris and Muris and Hot and Trond and Marcus and Marcus and Pavel and Lian and Ian and Gabriel and David and etc. etc. Any one of them might not see things as I do, but the big monster sees them exactly as I do.
