You really need to try before you buy and it a feel for it, they do look dang pretty and easy to fall in love. First please, don't get a ESP Ltd mixed up with a ESP. They are totally different quality (Ltd is the cheaper make unfortunity). I tried a ESP Viper in the guitar store once, yeah it looks mint, sounds good, but I also didn't like the playing style/feel.
The Ibanez RG have much better feeling (so I can see why you wouldn't like it after playing that). It's also a higher end guitar. As for active pickup, that depends on your amps settings, you might have to tweak them a lot if your previously playing passive pickups. Also really tighten up on palm muting and get an agressive pick attack angle going. The ESP Viper I found is really only good in drop tuning - like drop B, and playing heavy. If you perfer standard tuning (like me), then it's not the axe for you. This post has been edited by Azzaboi: Oct 9 2011, 07:08 AM -------------------- Play Games Arcade Take a break, Play Games! Well, something good came out of that, don't worry about it. It's just another experience. It's good that you know that this guitar isn't for you. I advise that you keep it for a while and see where you go from there

It's a good school for you! But don't worry much, you'll gonna change plenty of guitars in the future and you'll know exactly what to pay attention to.

Did the previous owner slap some new strings on and not pre-stretch them? If that's the case you can preform a lot of bends or just play them in, while retuning.

Well thanks guys! I kept the guitar. The guitar has a TON of sustain compared to my RG. I figured I'd give it a week and it only took a few jam out sessions to realize I wanted to keep it. It's a great guitar. However, I need to sit down with it for a while and mess with the intonation. It goes out of tune literally every 15 mins. This thing has spertzel locking tuners so it cant be the strings slipping...right? In conclusion, other than the tuning issue the guitar sounds great and I will most certainly keep it. Also, I purchased some new pickups for my RG which I'm excited to install. I picked up a tone zone for the bridge and an air norton for the neck. I played the EVO's and they were too sensitive and high pitched for my liking. Now you gotta make a new thread showing us pics of the guitar -------------------- Check my Instructor Profile Rockers!
