I mentioned to you guys before that I am a Police Officer. Today I was on patrol and I heard a call go out to any cars in the area for a suicidal subject on the superstructure of a VERY high bridge over water. People jump off this bridge to commit suicide fairly frequently as it is the highest drop in the area. It is about 150 feet over the water. I went out onto the bridge and saw a guy who had climbed about 20 feet above the surface of the bridge and was hanging onto the bridge support right next to the outside railing of the bridge. He was crying and was just staring straight ahead...not really looking at anything. I walked to the bottom of the structure he was hanging onto and talked to him for about 5 minutes. He finally looked down at me and I was able to convince him to tell me his name. I kept talking to him for about another 10 minutes and finally got him to agree to come down. As soon as he came down he just grabbed me and cried on my shoulder about how his wife left him. We calmed him down and took him to the hospital. When we looked in his car that was parked at the end of the bridge he had written a suicide note and put it on the dashboard.

It definitely was a highlight of my career so far!

Great job man! That's just amazing smile.gif

I'm sure your parents are very proud of you as we are all feeling the same here at GMC.

I hope he appreciates you're compassion for life as much as we do. You saved his butt and definitely earned your paycheck my friend.

Have a drink on me wink.gif smile.gif

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

Some guy committed suicide in my hometime not long back and people were shouting to him just jump and booing when he didn't. It was so very wrong and eventually he just jumped. At least there are some decent people in the world that try to save people rather than making them jump. Most days I want to jump off a high structure but unfortunately I'm too much of a wimp to do anything so I will just stay the same miserable idiot I have always been smile.gif

Suicide is not a solution to your problems. It's just another escape from your problems. Stay here with us and play the guitar. Look for other people's help - there are some that will help you, believe me. smile.gif
