Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Very nice to see a REC take from you Carlos!

I think you did well here.

The most obvious improvement suggestion would be to work on your vibrato - this is evident in the melodic part. This section is largely defined by Ben's vibrato phrasing. I can tell you have picked up on the nuances - you just need to put in more time in it.

Also it does sound to me as if you are being slightly rushed during the beginning/riffing part - playing slightly ahead of the beat.

With improved vibrato this will be a killer take - well done, you get a 7 from me.

Hi Carlos!

It's awesome to see all the hard work that you are doing at GMC. Congrats friend!!

You have a good base as guitarist, so there are many positive things happening in this video. I'll mark those things that need attention which can be elements from your overall playing, or maybe just from this take.

- Pitch Issues: I notice that there are pitch issues when playing the riff, but also when playing the double stop licks, and the bend. I'm not completely sure if this is related to your playing or guitar but please check it out and let me know at the mentoring program.

- Main riff: The first part (on low open E string and first fret) is not sounding good. The "trill" is not clear, and has pitch issues. This riff must sound totally tight and it's industrial metal influence requires a digital/computer style performane (VERY precise).

- Vibrato: Your vibrato technique is weak in most of the solo section. You have to make your finger 1 stronger, and help the others when doing vibrato with the "not being used fingers". Check the original lesson at 00:40 to see what I mean.

- Bending: As I've said previously, that bend is not reaching the pitch perfectly.

- Tapping: This is an obvious comment, but there is a missed note when playing the tapping lick.

Ok friend, it's a 6 for me. Keep on the hard work!

Hey there man!

I like the fact you play it like you mean it. Just remember that for harder right hand strumming you need to tune your 6th string and 3rd string a little lower - in general better to make them sound in tune at the "hit moment" than at the sustain. Guitar is a tricky instrument tuning-wise. There are no hard rules and the onyl fact that counts is the final result. Experiment, know you instrument for better pitch performance next time.

As for vibrato suggestions don't go too far with changes. Your basic mechanics are just fine - rotation comes from the wrist and fingers work well. What you can review is just the speed and depth of vibrato done by Ben in his original lesson video.

I think you may have some problems with strings separation in the rhythm part. It sounds like some strings are ringing over another the way they actually make thse other get lost in the mix. That's more of a left hand work.
