Wow. Yup. There are a wad of pedals out there on the used market that run north of A THOUSAND DOLLARS. To each his own and all. But. I must say this seems just silly. None of these seem to do anything that can't be replicated in software to be honest. Sure, some are quite rare. it seems the market has decided that these crazy prices are ok. such is the way of supply and demand. What to you think? Are these worth more than a grand?

At this point, I would never pay that for any pedal.
I have sold two pedals for north of $1000 US. An original gold horsie man Klon and a DAM Tone Bender. Both I paid the standard retail price for when they were new. I did buy a Klon 'KTR' several years ago when they came out ($300.00) assuming that eventually they'd go up. It's a slow burn but the builder (Bill Finnegan) has said that he can't get some of the parts anymore and the design will be changing. Ka-ching! https://reverb.com/marketplace?make=klon&query=klon+ktr This post has been edited by klasaine: Oct 18 2021, 03:25 PM -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

Good point. At some point, it goes from gear to "collectible", sort of like really expensive cars that some people buy but never drive. I have spent quite a bit on analogue gear so i can't really knock folks for buying pricey pedals. My two hand built myasnikov preamps were $500 each. I too an a multi fx guy and a plugin guy. Though I do still enjoy a nice tube preamp The preamp that my soldano clone is based on runs $3k-$5k which really does seem crazy. Of course, as you say, this sort of thing is almost more of an investment that a gear purchase. The rarity will persist and they will all probably go up in value.
From an investment point maybe they're worth the money (and may rise to profit you). From a playing perspective, I don't know if they're worth that. I've always either been a multi-effect kinda guy or plugin. On a few occasions I've used pedals of course, but I don't think I'd play or use a TS808 from 1980 if I had one for instance. But if you buy one for 1000 USD and sell it in 10 years for 3000 USD, then that's not a bad investment, I suppose. I remember seeing the JPM100 P1 for about 1000-1300 USD back in 2005 or so. Recently saw one sell for about 7000 USD. Not If I had 500.000 USD in my bank account then the situation might be different. Money changes people, I suppose. Bam!! The KTR are already north of of 1k. Well done getting in at retail prices and holding for the bump I got a kick from the disclaimer he puts on the top of the KTR. "Don't blame me for KLON prices being crazy, it ain't my fault" At this point, I would never pay that for any pedal.
