Hello there

I bet we all had this.
One day we love our musical ideas and one day we dont.
I spoke to other muscians about this and this happens to everyone.

Why is it so easy to get satsified with your own music, and some weeks later you will "dislike" your own music
You wont like your idea anymore

As an instrumental player, I have listened and composed so much instrumental stuff, that im now even starting
to get tired on the genre itself..
I dont know which of my compositions Im going to finish off into an actual song.

Some days I really hate my own music..

For me this is the hardest obstacle to find that extra piece of confience to actually finish something and get it out there

Hi mate. Interesting topic.

Yeah, we all experiment this feeling and we have to deal with it from time to time. This depends on each person, but in my case I have moments when I can see clearly while other ones when I cannot and that's when I like showing my music in progress to friends in who I trust to know what they think. I trust in them and i know that they say the truth so if they tell me that the music I'm working on is not really cool by now, I keep on searching. Sometimes an idea just needs to be re-worked, while other times ideas just don't work.

This is natural and we don't have to worry too much about it, we need to enjoy the process. We play music and compose it because we love it, we like experimenting the feel of doing, or at least that's the reason why we've got into this.

Even the most popular bands and artists need a producer who clarifies the direction of their material and also helps to choose the best songs among the ones composed for the albums. So if you feel that you cannot see clearly which are the best songs, or which are the cooler ideas to keep on working, you can trust on another musician that helps you. Also, you can do it here at GMC, we are always ready to give feedback and help with the direction of your practice and also composing.

Finally, about the genre. This can be something of this moment, or this can be a change in your taste which is also natural and usually happens. Everybody judges bands and musicians when their music changes from album to album, but we are persons, and we evolve, we change, so it's normal to want to do a different thing from time to time. Also, something that you like doing today, can be something that you don't like in the future... that's life.

Every time I start writing a new album for my band, I feel that I won't be able to write better songs. Even when I'm producing them I feel that they are not as good as the old ones. We've released 4 albums, and after releasing each of them, I always think that the last one is the best one. So you can imagine how the things are...
