Dude, that was freakin' wicked \m/ Thanks I worked up a Guitar Rig 4 Patch called Psycho Lead 3 that used an octaver in addition to a wad of gain and just improvised over the entire track. It was quite fun I'm posting the guitar rig file here in case you have a copy. Great software BTW. Would have taken me forever to get that tone using my standard rig, I actually tried it that way first and wasn't happy with it so I switched to software. It's amazing how quickly you can swap out components and cabs/mics/outboard gear when you can do it with a mouse. Psycho_Lead3.ksd.zip ( 5.76K ) Number of downloads: 123 This was in deed vey cool Todd - we should be able to use this. I'll digest this some more but I might ask you to send me your dry signal so I can re amp... watch this space! Very cool to hear you take over the actual tune. Glad you dug it Hope it can be worked in somehow here and there. I was just playing by ear and winging it so I"m certain the whole track won't match up note wise, I was really just going to a sort of counterpoint/call and response to the main rythm. Glad it worked out and ended up sounding cool Here is the guitar track with just distortion and octaver (custom guitar rig patch that I uploaded just in case) and again entirely clean as recorded with zero fx. Update: I have redone the lead - I am still not 100% sure about the details but I feel that something is shaping up at least: [attachment=22230:song_col...erdraft4.mp3] Adrian here is the file without drums: [attachment=22231:song_col..._nodrums.mp3] Any feedback/thoughts you might have is very welcome! woops i'm a couple of days late , but now i got, will try something out EDIT: So here is it guys, i hope you like it! The sound is a little lower now, i like to take it up in the master hope is ok! Also kris, i got an idea to connect to the end of the draft, but i'm not sure if i should make it because it will kill the metal vibe into some rock n roll trippy thing, should i go for it? drums_draft.mp3 ( 2.34MB ) Number of downloads: 176 This post has been edited by Adrian Figallo: Nov 11 2010, 09:10 PM -------------------- Check my Instructor Profile Rockers! Hey Todd, heres the MIDI file you asked for. I took the MIDI file in to Garageband and put Guitar Rig on it. It doesn't sound all the way like a guitar but it does get the idea across. MUDBONE: Very cool composition, I put it with some random drums just to highlight it. I"ll also put it with the existing track, is it written to match up? Glad to see you in the video chat today MudboneWithRandomDrums.mp3 ( 4.46MB ) Number of downloads: 222 yes Todd, that was amazing! FIREBALL: Thanks Glad you liked it! Give it a whirl! Glad you made to the video chat today as well This is a really fun piece to work with. Kudos to Kris for another killer Collab in the making Practice! Todd Thanks Todd I really like what you did with the drums. I actually wrote this song as a way to learn the E minor scale and legato at the same time, as I didn't like the scale patterns and boxes I found in books. I can play the main riff, its the legato part I'm having real trouble with -------------------- He who laughs last thinks slowest. It's a very cool composition I hope it can be integrated in to this collab somehow. If not, maybe make it it's own Collaboration?
FREE GUITAR RIG VERSION: Here is a link to the GUITAR RIG Free Version. It's the same software I was talking about in the chat and what I used to make the recording here for the collab. The free version has fewer options, but it's a great way to get started in software amp modeling. You can add bits like the RAMSTEIN patches as well for an upgrade fee. http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/pro...r-rig-4-player/ Those guys should send me a Tshirt or something for pimping them so hard. Phew - an update: I have been pretty worried about this one. I like the arrangement but still couldn't find a natural melody that would work as a red thread - this could mean a dead end for the tune. However today I finally found something which might work over the second riff. Watch this space!
EDIT: So here is it guys, i hope you like it! The sound is a little lower now, i like to take it up in the master hope is ok! This is great - immediately gave me new ideas for the drum track, thanks! I definitely think you should let us hear your idea - especially now that things look a little brighter for the tune. My initial idea for this tune was to create a landscape where we go from hard to soft, metal to rock etc. - it would be amazing if we managed to achieve that (it's an extremely difficult thing to do without heading into "art music" territory). |

Any updates on the tune? Can't wait to hear how it turns out I've been mentioning this collab to my chat students. They are excited about it as well.
