Ipod Shuffles, problems

Hey GMC!.. as most of you could probably guess ( and i bet its the same with everyone else).. im a huge music fiend.. therefore my ipod is one of my most prized possesions.. because im poor i have one of those little matchbook shuffles.. cost me about $45 and im beginning to think thats all they are worth sad.gif. So ive had about 5 of these in the past year due to the same stupid little problem and its beginning to make me real mad! mad.gif

Heres whats happening

step 1: plug ipod into dock
Step2: Itunes says they have a new update
Step3: smikey2006 says.. sure update.. why not..
Step4: itunes updates and restarts ipod
Step5: Smikey2006 goes to bed.. awakes and wants to go for a walk.. grabs his ipod.. puts on headphones.. and alas no music..
Step6: Smikey2006 looks at his ipod and notices a light that is supposed to be green is blinking orange and green..
Step7: Smikey2006 has no idea what is wrong and plugs ipod back in and resets it.. but it never works again

(my apoligies for refering to myself as smikey2006 biggrin.gif )

so.. i am once again musicless.. and angry.. has anyone had any experence with this? im really fed up with my ipods being corrupt by an update APPLE SENDS ME!.. i either want a solution.. or some free ipods.. HELP!
