Does this happen to anyone? Ok, u just got home from school/work and u want to relax and just practice on the guitar and u notice that u play worse today then yesterday and u can't figure out why so u leave it alone eat dinner take a shower and play and it's like magic u can play faster again. It's harder to play with cold hands and when ur in a place that does that alot it's pretty annoying so I suggest before u play to warm ur hands and relax them to where u can move each 1 freely. But tell me if this happens to anyone else because I hope it' not just me! tongue.gif

oh man totally. I live in michigan and were in the middle of winter so my room is freezing cold. I have to turn on the computer, tv and leave my lights on just to get my room warm. Then play guitar, or else i cant feel my fingers and cant stretch them out as much as i want them to.

Absolutely! Satch will wear gloves with the fingers cut off in chilly venues.

It happens to me all the time. I run my hands under warm water for 30 seconds before I start practicing now.

Problem fixed!

Like any other kind of exercise you should stretch beforehand. For instance pull each of your fingers back for about 15 secs each, doing so will get the blood flowing and warm up your hands. Running them under hot water really will not warm you up, just temporarily increase the temperature on your hands until the air cools them off again.

I just twiddle my fingers about, blow on them, stretch them etc

A good one I found for band practice in cold rooms is to make a cup of tea/coffee and then you can just hold it while you're not playing, when it cools down - drink it and get another!
