Which Guitar Suitable For 9 Year Old?, Don't know what to get.

My son is turning 9 soon and I think he might be ready. He's really into RHCP, Buckethead and our very own Muris. He's always playing my acoustic but it's too big. My other son is a kick-a** drummer and we jam all the time. I think the little guy wants in. Birthday is coming up - I'd like to give this a shot.

I've seen some Ibanez "mini" guitars and some other small guitars, but is that the way to go? Acoustic or electric? Anyone have experience with this situation?
