So now that I actually own a piezo equipped guitar, finally experimented comfortably on a soundcard and my findings;

The sound as expected is nowhere near the acoustic sound itself or mic.ed. For those who don't know, its sort of like a single bridge PU sound but string separation is better. To make it sound realistic, some processing is needed.

Option is to eq or better yet to use ir's just like we use for cab.s on electric guitars. Search "acoustic guitar ir's" and there's lots for free, you can also use there to make your electric to sound acoustic guitar-like too.

Free

As said, just search for irs and a free ir loader. Then add reverb, comp. etc. plug-ins to taste.

Paid software

There aren't many options, TH-U has an affordable add-on with ir's ; https://overloud.com/products/lrs-acoustic-dream . This one https://overloud.com/products/lrs-acoustic-dream seems to be a preamp add-on for detailed coloration of tone so get this later.

Nembrini seems to have a processor type designed option, giving you likely everything you need: https://www.nembriniaudio.com/products/acou...e-guitar-preamp

Ik multimetia has one but you need to buy their mic. system; https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/iriga...mems-microphone

Hardware

There are many but this affordable Nux product seems cool, you can even sample your own ir's https://www.nuxefx.com/optima-air.html . Friend of mine has been using this for a while and its quite good https://www.nuxefx.com/solid-studio.html

Note; the cool thing about ir's is that a very affordable guitar can sound very good with the right ir. If you're going to buy a guitar for this purpose, make sure the preamp on the guitar isn't noisey. My luthier warned me not to buy Unknown/New brands (mostly from China) as he's even seen fake Fishman preamps on them. So go with a trusted brand and you should be ok.

Yep I use the Nux Optima Air. I have a Fishman Rare Earth Blend pickup so not the best for IRs but it does improve the amplified sound.

I'm looking at possibly getting the James May Ultra Tonic https://jamesmayengineering.com/
Which is like the K&K but with added features to help with string balance and feedback issues.
