Not quite finished with this one yet. still some textural smoothing to iron out.

This includes several sounds from the "Planet Earth" vst currently on special that I linked to on the gear page. Also a bunch of Absynth Twilights sounds, Kontakt orchestral, and a few instruments from East West. May not seem it but this was the most taxing project my computer has ever suffered. Continually crashed or froze from all the instruments. In the end I had to break it into two different projects then mix the rendered WAVs.

Just a couple of thoughts on the pc freezes/lock ups Rob.

Did you try to freeze unused track lanes to reduce processor drain?

If you did the above, and if you have a spare pc maybe consider running some of your vsts on a stand alone pc and linking it to the daw via ethernet. There used to a couple of programs about that would let you do this. l think one was called FX Teleport. Not sure the state of the art here but might be worth a look if you already have a spare pc.

Tony, I did try freezing but that would often cause a PC freeze. dry.gif

After splitting it in two it worked fine. The cpu is handling the load fine as I keep it monitored. The main problem seems to be I only have 4gb ram - that gets chewed up quickly when I watch the pagefile monitor. The plan is to create a purpose-built PC later this year or whenever the budget will allow it (with as much ram and cpu as I can afford), so I'm just putting up with stuff and coming up with workarounds in the meantime. And I don't have a spare PC.

I had the same problem a lot of times.... My solution is to render the ready made tracks down to .wav - files inside the project and then remove the VST-instrument, since an audio track doesn't have to be pre-loaded into the RAM.........

Staffay,

I have done that at times (of course saving the VSTi midi track externally so it can be reaccessed). In this case I am continually working on the midi tracks so it hasn't been an option.

--------

As an aside, I'm close to a final mix on this one - a lot of changes since the youtube version. It's being targeted for a relaxation CD to be sold through European 'wellness hotels'.
