Just a couple of thoughts on the pc freezes/lock ups Rob.
Did you try to freeze unused track lanes to reduce processor drain? If you did the above, and if you have a spare pc maybe consider running some of your vsts on a stand alone pc and linking it to the daw via ethernet. There used to a couple of programs about that would let you do this. l think one was called FX Teleport. Not sure the state of the art here but might be worth a look if you already have a spare pc. -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer. Tony, I did try freezing but that would often cause a PC freeze. After splitting it in two it worked fine. The cpu is handling the load fine as I keep it monitored. The main problem seems to be I only have 4gb ram - that gets chewed up quickly when I watch the pagefile monitor. The plan is to create a purpose-built PC later this year or whenever the budget will allow it (with as much ram and cpu as I can afford), so I'm just putting up with stuff and coming up with workarounds in the meantime. And I don't have a spare PC. I had the same problem a lot of times.... My solution is to render the ready made tracks down to .wav - files inside the project and then remove the VST-instrument, since an audio track doesn't have to be pre-loaded into the RAM......... //Staffay -------------------- Guitars: Ibanez AM-200, Ibanez GB-10, Fender Stratocaster Classic Player, Warmouth Custom Built, Suhr Classic Strat, Gibson Les Paul Standard 2003, Ibanez steel-string Amps: Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Marshall JMP 2103, AER 60 Effects: BOSS DD-20, Danelectro Trans. Sounds very cool! I have same problem with most demanding projects - a sure sign that new PC is needed
