My current guitar (Greg bennett designed Samick Interceptor "IC4") 'superstrat' guitar looks as if its dying in my hands.. It does not want to stay in tune even though the trem is perfectly aligned, etc etc, the knobs and electronics are becoming a pain in the arse and my neck needs some serious polish and work and it just does not sound good to me anymore.. I have had it for 3 years now and I am getting sick of it soI need something new to keep me playing and practicing as this guitar is not doing that anymore SO...

I have decided to purchase an Ibanez JEM7v White- The guitar steve vai uses.. No im not buying this only because Vai is my all time favourite musician, but I for one love the way it looks and sounds (from listening to vai and other JEM players).. My question is... Is it a good guitar? Is it durable? Does anyone have experience with DiMarzio Evolution pickups? Does it sound good over all?

Lots of people say "Go for a high end Ibanez RG model! They are pretty much JEM's without steve vai's name on them" yeah well i dont care, it does not look as kool as a JEM and money is not a huge factor for me.

So what is your oppinion on the JEM7v WHite. Have you ever tried one?? Please let me know:).

Well if you take a look at the sweep picking lessons you will see the result! The guitar is simply awesome, it allows you to do crazy stuff with whammy bar without going out of tune, the pickups sound just like i want them to. Single Coil is the best for clean sound playing.

Vai is also one of my influences, when i saw JEM for the first time in my life i said: "I will have that guitar!" - and 3 years later - i have it!

If you want a perfect guitar you really don't have to look any longer - just go out and buy it!

I heard that the "newer" models arent as good as the older ones (switch from ebony fretboard to rosewood) and bolt on neck instead of neck-through and that the sustaine is not as long as it used to be / 'the feel of the neck' is not that good. Those are words though, I don't believe them much but what year model is your JEM and how do you find the Sustaine and the neck playability? The results I saw from your sweep picking lessons are outstanding but you don't really need sustaine when you sweep .

I'm curious about what the 6105 frets are compared to jumbo frets?

Hey i head a lot of people saying that JEM is not worth the price but when i get them to my house and give them my JEM to try playing it they are shocked - the quality is unbeatable. JEM neck is a real SHRED neck. I bought my guitar September 2006, so it is brand new hehe

hehe ya I know man, I feel that this is the guitar for me too thats why im asking so many questions and also because the Ibanez dealer here has to actually order the guitar from the factory in Japan so I cant just go there and try one out and if I ask him to order it well I pretty much have to buy it... Anyway I guess I'll make the order as soon as possible, thank you Pavel much appreciated... Can't wait .

Pavel, what can you tell me about the frets on your JEM? From what I understand they are called 6105 and I wonder how they are different from the more common jumbo frets?

Have no idea about the frets - never gave a damn about it. They work for me fine so it was never a problem and i don't know nothing about what frets do i have.

They are longer and thinner i think.
