Midi Keyboard, please some suggestions |

Hi guys,
I've been thinking of buying a MIDI controller, something like this: It has usb connection option, so I want to ask is it possible to use this keyboard via USB with no latency issues. I use USB controller as well but I think latency isn't related that much to connection here
but to your audio card where you set latency. P.S:this Korg is quite sweet

Well as a controller keyboard it has no sounds of its own, so you would use it to control a VST. USB connection is very fast for MIDI data so no problem there. Once you are controlling the VST, the same latency rules apply as for using a recording interface - there will be some, but as long as you set it low you won't notice it (but your CPU goes up).
I do this all the time and it works great

I have one of those, the small K25 keyboard. It takes less space and it's relatively easy to change the octave by pressing the octave shift up or down buttons. So you can access all available octaves, just not at the same time. But for the stuff I do it's prefect. I don't use the software that came with the keyboard, only for plug ins. Works great for that and I have not noticed any latency issues... some times the chords come off the beat but that's my fault
 can use adjust in the sequences to get them perfect on beat  I'm not an advanced user, I only use the USB connection, and it takes it's power from the USB port so very simple. I would recommend this small K25 unless you need to play both hands on different octaves. -------------------- My bands homepage

If you need a keyborad to controle your VSTs and your Sequenser, and if you are going to play music on it, then you should definately look for a Semi-weighted keyboard with after-touch. You need to have the feeling of playing an instrument, rather than a computer peripheral, this is very very important (atleast to me as I play Synth in a Band).
Today I would recommend the Novation ReMote SL series. Novation SL is a high quality product. They are a revolution. It will setup all the Midi channals automaticly with the Automapping function. Automap removes the pain and time involved in assigning MIDI parameters. From this keyboard you can controle all parameters in your VSTs, LFOs Filters a.s.o. And when you go from one VST to another, it automaticly switches all controllers to that VST - and still keeps the LFOs on the same sliders on your keyboard. Very cool  It also controls your sequenser, Reaper, Logic, Abelton a.s.o. Say you use Cubase, what happens is that when you open, say, your mixer inside Cubase, the Automap feature automaticly puts all the controles to the Keyboard. So its perfect for a studio setup. I almost never use the mouse, clicking around inside Cubase anymore, I mostly use the automated controllers transferred to the Keyboard. Also the ReMote SL got drumpads and XY-area, which is perfect if you Morf sounds inside a VST synth. And if you dont like the Automap-setup, you can with one mouse-click inside your sequenser change any function of any buttons. http://www.novationmusic.com/global/products/    Edited some typo. Hey Ivan! I am using M-Audio Keystation 49e - USB connection and never had any problems with latency - no delay, no nothing! Korg is a great brand so i bet you'll have a good experience with that keyboard
