Well I think it is more beneficial to mainly practice by yourself however practicing with other people every once in a while could definitely help. I usually only practice by myself but my friend who has been playing for 5 years now is like a regular at the local guitar shop and everyone their knows him cuz he just goes there a lot to play so sometimes I head down there with him just to hang out and play with some people (even tho I usually get embarrassed biggrin.gif )

I agree smile.gif

You really need to do both to get the best results. You can be awesome playing by yourself and then try to jam with someone and just sit there like duhhhhhhhhh. It takes work to play with someone because it's not just your playing that has to be in time.If your just a second off you just ruined the whole thing sad.gif .There's really no one around me to jam with.I used to have dudes back in the day and i loved it.The only people around me now are not very good and cant play the things i like.I dont enjoy just sitting around playing Nirvana and smoke on the water laugh.gif

My Advice
Figure out what you want in life early.Wether it's the girl, the partying
or mastering the guitar.Adding any 2 together will get in your way.

I never Jam with another guitarist unless its a close friend or my Lead.. playing with a bass or drummer is best because then u can do something.. (play songs) and they can;t be overly critical and not know what they are talking about.

I practice with a live instructor once a week. Spend the rest practicing on my own. I learn better by myself but you cannot beat playing with someone to get an over sense of "musicality"!
