Midi To Mp3/wav, Possible? If So, how?

ok, lets say i exported something from Guitar Pro as a MIDI file, but i want it to put it on my ipod (yes, MIDI sound), so that means i have to convert it to mp3/wav. How can i do this? i try importing it to Audacity and then exporting it as a WAV file but when i open the file and click play, nothing happens.

Please help. thanks.

- yes my stupid Hungus (and Andrew) - I must have been having a bad night and morning! Use GW to record the output from GP...

(Does seem to assume that you can loopback either direct within the sound card or with a suitable audio cable externally but no great problem.))

Its down to the soundcard drivers I think, but I have never had a problem with doing this - the only question is whether the loopback occurs in digital or analog.
