Hi Monica (and Dan laugh.gif),

Here we are again with the start of a new lesson! I have spend about 5 hours to learn the new lesson and to produce this first take. The lesson feels much easier then let's say the alternate picking lesson which took me at least 14 days to learn the whole lesson by heart.

I really like the sound of this lesson. Although I (shameful) had never heard of Deftones before, I love to play this lesson! First time I play with the guitar in a different tuning (drop D). The lesson does not have very difficult parts as there're just 3 parts that repeat themselves a few times. So I was surprised I could learn the lesson in a few hours, especially compared to some of my previous lessons laugh.gif

Here's the first take!

Analysis:
I can be very brief about the analysis.
The rythm part feels like it's going well. I don't have timing issues (maybe just at the very end but I'm not sure).
The vibrato needs work biggrin.gif Although it's not that bad I think tongue.gif
But I will work on the vibrato separately...

Let me know if I can raise tempo or not, hahahaha

Cheers,
Gert

Hi again Monica laugh.gif

Already back after Aminor lesson with a take of this Deftones lesson!

The past time I have worked hard on the vibrato so I hope you can see some kind of improvement biggrin.gif

I also have fixed my index finger problem on the power chords. But it was just after your last post I fully understood what the problem was cool.gif

And at last I applied the new fingering you suggested. So I think it sounds smoother now...

Here's the take:

1.23: I did not get this chord right from the first time

Not every vibrato sounds equally good. But I think there's some progress...

Let me know what you think!

Cheers,
Gert

Hi again Gert! biggrin.gif

It's great to see that you fixed the index finger problem on the power chords. smile.gif It took us some time, but in the end we succeeded. That is awesome!!!

Definitely, the sound of the vibrato is improved, but it still doesn't look great. You have moments where you don't return the string to point zero. You tend to execute the oscillations with the string pushed down and this is not what we want.

The new fingering seems to work much better for you. It definitely sounds smoother now. One little thing you need to fix in this section. After you put your middle finger on the string, don't take your index finger too much away from the fretboard. Keep it closer to the string because you delay the note played with your index finger and this affects the overall timing. The tempo of the track forces you to get rid of unnecessary movements tongue.gif

Here you can see how far from string your index finger is:

You did an awesome work today. I think with each detail that we fix, this lesson starts to sound better and better. I'm very proud of you! smile.gif

For next time, you can raise the tempo. biggrin.gif

Have a great evening!
