Here is a Drum Track that can be used in creating a backing track and as a bit of a demo.

The raw version is straight from EZ Dummer using the METAL HEADS kit.

Attached File  Drum_Track_NO_FX.mp3 ( 994K ) Number of downloads: 206

This version has OZONE 5, and a drums preset from GUITAR RIG 5 (it's now billed as a plugin platform as well as guitar)

Not saying one is "Better" just showing an example of how each sound. Try both in a backing track and see how they sound when you put guitar/bass/etc. over them. One thing to get used to when working on tracks is what impact fx on a given track (drums for example) have on the overall sound.

DISCLAIMER: THESE ARE MP3 FILES, not super high quality uncompressed wav/aif. Not presenting these for using in your next CD just for practice smile.gif

Would this sort of track work as a replacement to the metronome in reaper? I cant get a decent sound with reapers default metronome.

Sure smile.gif It's just a handy track to slug in and play to. Toss it on a track and go for it!

It's a custom patch called BIG DRUMS. Basically wads of compression and some room reverb. Here it is. Toss it on a drum track smile.gif

Sounds spiff! Try this, duplicate that track in your daw. On the second track, use a compressor and compress the snot out of of and use make up gain. Then pull the fader to zero. Hit play and blend in the second track with the first just to bring out the transients (strikes). Spiff trick smile.gif

The plugins I"m using here are about $100 each and you can buy a bundle of them. IMHO they sound as good as the UNIVERSAL AUDIO versions which require a $1500 piece of hardware to run ( I got an external UAD Satellite).

The good news is THE DEMOS ARE FREE!
