similarites between saxaphone and guitar soloing... Options

I just happened to go out for lunch and when driving back there was a Pink Floyd song which had a lot of solo saxaphone in it. I just thought how it sounded similiar to a guitar solo, pretty much they can only play one note at a time though, and correct me if I'm wrong. I may need to listen to some just for inspiration...

Get some John Coltrane. The dude was a f***in' monster. He could split tones and do all kinds of crazy stuff you're not supposed to be able to do on the instrument. He got so good that no saxophone practice books could challenge him, so he started practicing out of Harp music books (47 strings).

The saxophone is fantastic instrument - I love it. It's just so expressive.

I had a guitar crisis a couple of years ago where I was determined to switch instrument. Luckily, the seller I got in contact with was such scammer it turned me off.

The closest a guitarist could come to the saxophone is in my opinion Holdsworth with his synthaxe. Not only is the sound pretty close with the breath control and everything - his phrasing is just so Coltrane. I love it!
