http://soundcloud.com/llibach/llibach-melodic-minor Sorry this is the link You did a great job! I love the melodic minor run and when you went to the pentatonic it sounded very cool! Very well done! The only suggestion I have is try not to resolve into unstable tones use them more as passing notes and resolve into chord tones this way you will get your solo to sound more solid! I will post a new assignment in a few hours! Keep it up! -------------------- |

Ok, I'm starting to get it I think. This is another quick take trying to resolve with the chord tones. Your basically using the tones to bring the solo back to home after introducing the other notes as a different flovour right?

How about some blues phrasing and pentatonic work ? I've done a lot of theory lately so maybe something like that before getting back to theory. When we get back to theory I'd like to learn how to construct good chord progressions using alternate chords. I seem to have learnt the chords but still not how to properly apply them. I have a perfect lesson for you! https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/15-Blues-Licks/ Check it out and let me know what you think! What do you mean by alternate chords? Chords with extensions? Been checking the lesson out, there's some licks in there that I'll steal for sure. But I was hoping for something with some more complex bends and slide work. Yeah I mean chords with extensions, I've learnt all the chords #9 and 5ths, diminished and so on but don't really know how to apply them without it sounding wrong. I've just bought a book called chord chemistry by Ted Greene which is helping but I was wondering how you apply them to your own compositions. |

Yeah sounds good. Do you want me to come up with the start then we can develop it from there? Let's figure out the style, tempo and a form first! -------------------- |

Hey Alex sorry for the delay I was having trouble coming up with something I liked. So here is what I came up with. So it's Em , D maj, C maj7, not sure about the next one but it's a B7 shape but with open G and E string.

Now let's add some drums to it! What software do you have to program drums? This post has been edited by Alex Feather: Dec 3 2012, 07:03 PM -------------------- |
