Hi Nick! Cograts on your first GMC take!!
This first submit is very promising. There are some elements to fix here but you'll be able to record a high grade take soon. Well done. I can say that you have a good sense of rhythm, there are only some details regarding timing that I can mark. The first section shows some little timing issues but nothing too serious. There are just some chords that sound hurried, then, when you move to the second part everything sounds tight until the end, where I also notice small timing issues (00:52). The funky strums (for example at 00:44) also tend to sound hurried. The main thing that needs to be fixed here is your guitar tuning. There is a problem in the higher strings so the chords doesn't sound well tuned. I would see if this was a tuning issue or if your guitar needs some adjustment (changing strings, calibration, etc). Besides this, I notice some moments in which your chord changes could sound smoother, mostly starting at 00:21. This part is full of chord changes and you need to put your focus on making silcence between chords, the smaller possible. Your tone sounds good, and the video also looks very well. Congrats on your first take!!
 I"m Todd just in case we didn't get introduced. I run the Shred Bootcamp and the Quick Licks here at GMC. Gabe also has a mentorship program called Gabes army. Feel free to join in if you like for a mentorship program as it gives you the chance to focus on specific skills with an instructor. Let's talk about your take! your right hand technique here seems quite good! you are palm muting well and there isn't a bunch of extra string noise. This alone is a HUGE thing that's easy to miss. Also your hand synch seems spot on. Your pick strikes are lined up with your fretting. These two things alone can take quite a while to get a good handle on. The only thing I hear going wrong, as Gabe mentioned, is the Tuning. It sounds like your G or B or high E or some combination of those, is out of tune. As a result it makes the chords sound a pinch wrong even though they look like you play them perfectly. It's always a good idea to check the tune of your guitar before recording anything. I mean anything at all. If you do check it with a tuner and every string says it's in tune, then it's an intonation issue, and you may need to take it to a luthier to have it looked at. If it's just a tuning issue, then its a quick and easy fix, and just re recording this is the next step.
