Being the Strat man that you are, I decided to post this question for you smile.gif

Squier Stratocaster is what I'm using, and for some reason whenever I switch the pickup selector to the far left, middle, or far right, I get this rather annoying buzzing sound. However when I go to the in between options, it's perfectly fine

Could this be due to the pickups standard squiers come with?

Also, while I'm thinking about it, I found a brand new, never opened Evolution Middle pickup (from the Ibanez JEM) in my closet, still in it's plastic wrap and hard shell case. Would you suggest I add this pickup to the Squier and replace the factory one?

Hello Matt!

I'm sorry, I've never heard of a buzzing sound from the pickup selector. I guess it's normal to get a small "click sound", but not an annoying buzzing sound! Any chance you can record it, so I can hear what you mean? unsure.gif

Of course, that's a great idea. Put it on! It will sound better than the factory Squier pickup, for sure! smile.gif

Finally found this topic again laugh.gif

Unfortunatly I dont have a working mic to record into the computer, I'll work on some recording gear in the near future (any suggestions? smile.gif )

As far as the pickup goes I'm thinking I'll definatly throw it in, I'm just wondering about the awkwardness of a middle evolution pickup and two factory squier pickups. Is it possible to place a middle pickup elsewhere or is this something I should steer clear of?

I also need to find a tutorial on how to change pickups, seeing as how I've never done it before ohmy.gif

(I need a guitar building class, I love watching it, I just dont know how to do it laugh.gif)

hey hows it going?
some squier parts dont work. some times the pots are scrachy and dont read corretly on a multmeter. id replace all the electronics. its a cheap fix that will sound great if u replace the pickups. its about 20$ at www.guitarfetsih.com i use there parts in every build. there pickups rock as well. id see if u could find somthing cheap that would go with the ibanez pickup. so you replace all 3 pickups, but u dont have get a matching set. just my two cents laugh.gif

Hello drw84215! smile.gif

Thank you for the referal! I'll take a look at some of that site's hardware and see what I can find. I'll still need to find tutorials and what not on how to do all the electronics, it's something I'm really interested in learning biggrin.gif
