Compound Radius Vs Straight Radius

I must say it would be the nicest electric guitar I've ever owned and the chunky neck feels GREAT in my hand. Even better, I'm getting it at a very good price from a friend. My question is... Is it worth my time to drive three hours north and head to Guitar Center in Atlanta to try a compound radius fretboard before I buy?
