I've been reading your blog Andrew, how are things going with that project?

Thanks for your interest guys smile.gif

I have put a metal grill on the back and have spent the last week or so experimenting with tone (since I am completely new to tube amps). The SM57 is great for micing just as everyone said it would be - its amazing how much variation you can get by moving the mic just an inch or two.

I am still trying to nail a hi gain sound - experimenting with pedals to boost the sound. Getting some good results but I'm not 100% happy yet. Also experimenting with a clean sound - this amp is not ideal for clean, but I am thinking of a mod to increase the clean headroom and make it switchable which should help.

I'm just about ready to send the faceplate off for etching, haven;t done that quite yet, then I am also thinking about adding an additional preamp stage or two for extra gain, and also having thoughts about the A.C.2 - now I have some experience I think I will make this a Head & Cab. For the A.C.2 I will likely build a more advanced and probably less developed design, so I will be drilling my owwn chassis and sourcing my own components I think, but that is still a while away - just noodling over the specs I want att the moment, thinking about a killer clean channel and a decent HiGain, and Blues crunch channel too - very ambitious, but we'll see.

Actually its even better than that - I accidentally quoted the retail price - for GMC members it would only be $23,000 smile.gif

Well I don't really have any or the energy to get any pictures so this'll be aboring post. but anyway.

Guitars:
-Squier Strat (My first guitar. I like the green colour on it but as for actually using it? Horrible. The frets are almost so sharp they'll make you bleed and cutt the strings while playing to aggressively tongue.gif )

-Ibanez AR 250
(I absolutely adore it. Just put in new pickups too. Seymour Duncan Custom Custom and Jazz.)

-Blueridge 40 Acoustic.

Amp:
-very old peavey bandit combo which I don't use anymore.
- JJ Labs 2x75HV "ThundR Mark II" + 4*12 cabinet. Great amp for its price.

Pedals:
- Boss TU-2 Chromatic Tuner
- Boss DD-6 Digital Delay
- Boss RV-5 Digital Reverb
- Dunlop Crybaby
- Line 6 Dm 4

That's it.
