I am having troubles to i just cant play a good solo.....I could use some tips on how to wright a good solo

Reading the following paragraph changed my life blink.gif
From http://guitar.about.com/cs/guitartab/qt/solo_com_numb.htm
Guitarists might find it interesting to note that the solo for "Comfortably Numb" was actually pieced together from several solos. Gilmour explains:
"I just went out into the studio and banged out five or six solos. From there I just followed my usual procedure, which is to listen back to each solo and mark out bar lines, noting which bits are good. In other words, I make a chart, putting ticks and crosses on different bars as I count through - two ticks if it's really good, one if it's good, and a cross if it's no go. Then I just follow the chart, whipping one fader up, then another fader, jumping from phrase to phrase and trying to make a really nice solo all the way through".

Since I've read this I am not really marking things, but I record 4-6 solos and try to figure out what was good and bad in each of them and finally I try to glue the good things tongue.gif

Writing a solo Basics:

Get a copy of the scale pattern for the key you are going to play. It is so nice to know the key as you do in this collab.

Print it out or at least have it on your screen. Start very simple with just a couple notes till you find two that sound good together over the track.

Build off those two notes till you get three and so on, try to make any bend's tone reach the next note in the scale. Pick an area of the scale that sounds good. You can stay in just one area of the neck to make it easier or if you move STAY IN THE SCALE PATERN. If you want to jump to the 22 fret look at your scale.

Keep a record of every decent lick. I tab mine and record everything.

Writing a solo is more so about memory of what you are playing. It is not written if you can't play it again. It is so easy to play a cool riff and just loose it in seconds. you must build your solo so that you can play it just like a lesson, cause that’s what it is. If you can't play the same thing over and over you can not get good at playing it. As you get good at your own lesson you will find it starts to sound pretty darn good. Not just well written, well played.

Play how you feel.

Rock On,

Hey, Juan.

I have my part ready, but I can't upload them.
I am one of the users that have to use a proxy to access the forum. Somehow when accessing through the forum, the option to upload a file is not present, when posting...

I will upload on Monday, from university.
