Hi Kris,

It was really inspiring that you made this detailed video for me, and my goals being so well discussed. Yes I have been with this site for many years now, although I went on and off, because of education and work which took away time from playing but I always felt GMC a great platform with wonderful people and lessons.

As always I got a bit tied up with work so could not revert back with the lead video. Although I am not very comfortable yet with any improvisations with any licks, as I have majorly learnt only scale shapes but donot understand how to connect them especially with chords being played.

I will make a video of the pentatonic positions and post below, that can help you understand with my current ability.

Thanks again,
Ayan

Hi Kris,

I have recorded the video. Although I could play much cleaner at 90% of the speed, but at 100% ie. the actual tempo, I could manage like this.

Awesome Ayan,

I think your analysis is totally correct, the few glitches we see here likely come from you pushing speed a little. It's not that bad though, just a little of pitch wise in the very first bend (00:03) and then maybe a missed pull off at (00:06).

It's more important to comment on your fingering here, please see the angle of your bending finger:
Attached Image

This is problematic and you should strive for a nice finger curvature whenever possible, so basically try to imitate the curve your fingers have when they are relaxed (even when you are bending - regardless of string/fret):
Attached Image

In order to achieve this you will likely need to experiment a bit with your grip around the guitar neck - and the placement of your left hand thumb.

----

I have seen you play (or were you jamming?) some nice melodies over a backing track. Would you be comfortable doing it over this backing?

Basically I would want to see you mix some ideas from the lick you just played, with just "walking up and down" in this scale?

If you are more comfortable visualising major shapes, you can use this instead:

Let me know if you would like to try this? I am not expecting you to play something amazing, just play the scale like an exercise and see what happens.

edit - you can now control tempo of backing tracks with the built in speed control buttons:

Hopefully this will make practicing at 90% tempo easier.
