If you get a Prestige you won't be ashamed of what you paid! Really, i have nothing else to suggest but an Ibanez RG Prestige!

Pick up a Jackson. I just dig Jackson and Charvel guitars, I suggest you try a dinky.

Back from my guitar center experience! Let me give you the lowdown of what went down...
The first guitar I picked up and played was the Schecter Damien FR. This guitar just straight out didn't feel right to me, and I couldn't spot it. One thing that I didn't like was that high E string bended too easily...really had that loose feeling. It went straight under the B string whenever I dude a full interval pitch shift. Of course, this is an action problem and was probably fixable, but what really made me put the guitar down was the broken input jack. It was busted, no more, no less. Wouldn't take a 1/4" input, but they probably would have fixed that. Next guitar I played was the Ibanez RGA121 Prestige! This was the first time I ever laid hands on an Ibanez prestige, although it wasn't the prestige 2550 or 1570 I was looking for (this was the only prestige they actually had!). In the past, I have played the regular RG's and I thought it wouldn't get much better than those, thinking the prestige line was a hype thing... boy was I wrong! I can easily see why they're so popular here with GMC'ers now. The first thing I noticed was the slim neck...it was so slick and sweet. The vintage pickups were great as well, no hum. After asking if they had a prestige in the house with a tremolo, the guy checked his computer and asked around, and came back with a no. That disappointed me quite a bit, because as sweet as this prestige was, I wasn't about to let myself take home a hardtail. So then I looked for a Jackson. I found the Jackson DXMB dinky. This guitar ALMOST sold me, mostly because they had one, and that it pretty much was what I wanted in a metal guitar. Good EMG's and great feel, although the neck humbucker had a tiny bit of hiss. Unfortunately, the prestige spoiled me in only 30 minutes, and my fingers were itching for that thin neck . So after playing on an hour of so with these guitars, my sels rep came back up to me and gives the 101. I had asked him if it were possible that any GC stores around had a 2550e. He said North Carolina had one and that he could ship it to me, but he later mentioned that it was a floor model, and that he didn't want to sell me a potentially dinged up guitar. I wasn't about to take that offer anyhow. So after a little bit of talk, we finally worked something! He was currently on the phone with Ibanez and came back to me with the info. He said he was talking to Ibanez at the moment, and that he could special order one for me right then, and it would be here in 2 weeks. I was about ready to make the deal anyway, and said "Get it for me with the prestige case, give me 2 packs of Ernie Ball super slinky's to take something home, and I'll write you a check for $850 right now, final price" he was hesitant at first, but we made the deal! Best thing is, he said if I didn't like the guitar for any reason, they would take it back within 30 days, no questions asked. So this kind of secured my venture into writing a check for something I haven't even played yet. I'm so excited! It's almost fun to be waiting for my baby, but at the same time, it's killing me! I've worked all summer for a guitar like this, and I know it won't disappoint, but if it does for whatever reason, I have the comfort of knowing I'm secured. I can almost TASTE the thin prestige neck, double locking edge pro bridge, and dimarzio goodness YUM -------------------- God said "Let there be LIGHT"

I'm glad you fiund a guitar that suits you About the thing necks, if you had tried the DK2 Dinkey you would have found an even thinner neck. Or rather and even thinner feel, with almost identical thickness but a compund radius neck on the Jackson. I played this Jackson and Ibanez side by side and I clearly felt a difference. But the one you choose seem great! -------------------- My bands homepage

I don't think it's about all of us talking about Prestige! 2 friends of mine have Jacksons - in the price range of around 700$ and even though the neck thickness is same as on prestige - it's different! It's not so smooth! So you did the right choice getting the Ibanez!

Mick I believe you to be right. The neck was pretty thin on that Jackson, however, the feel of the neck on the prestige was more to my liking than the Jackson. I don't know why, lol. Maybe it's from how much I've been brainwashed here about how Prestige's are great guitars . Lol, but honestly. Something about the prestige spoke to me that the Jackson lacked! I figure if I'm about to throw down this fat wad of cash on a guitar, I may as well have gotten the one I wanted! Thanks for the suggestions guys! Oh sorry, I mean that the DK2 has a thinner neck than the DXMG you tested. -------------------- My bands homepage
