I wonder if BOSS will break tradition and pull a line 6 and go native plugin?

Not likely as I'm guessing they'll be code'ing many amps for the gt-1000 to be ported to the product that will replace gt-100. Line6 plug-in releases aren't usually too far off the product release or updates to my memory but such catching up wouldn't be easy for boss atleast for the near future.

Probably right smile.gif They have never done a native plugin that I an remember, have they? Line 6 seems to be leading the way on this. They have one of the top Rack/Floor units on the Market and a plugin that sounds just like it for home recordists on a budget. Or who don't feel like pulling out their helix, if they have one, after all, the plugin is more flexible during recording as you can change anything about the tone at any time during mixdown without extra hardware and just using a mouse click.

I have to hand it to them. IMHO very cleverly done. Nobody else seems to be following suit though.

Can be a turnoff too, before Helix was released those plug-ins really turned me and a friend of mine off on line6 hd series smile.gif I remember liking the amps very much but the cab.s were no go and the eq's weren't really useful. Given the nice options of amp-like analog pedals today, when cab.s are bad its harder to deal with the processor.

IR cab. update was made a few days ago, first video so far;

I can't help thinking Boss is completely out of touch with the modeler market in 2018. Instead of offering things everyone expects in a $1000 modeler these days (wide variety of amp models, decent IR handling, high quality effects), they seem to have only aimed for an upgraded version of their earlier products. It's like they didn't even bother checking to see what competitive products are already in the marketplace. I hope they can recover, but right now the GT1000 doesn't compare favorably to other modelers.

If it sounds bad it's a turn off sure. Goes for pretty much any product. Crap sound = crap product. Pod Farm was not great by any means imho, but it was their first jump in to native plugins that lead to to the Helix Native plugin. Which sounds just like the Helix. Hard to be turned off by the helix plugin, if one thinks the helix sounds good. Glad they made a unit that people are not complaining about in the various forums. Even the HD line got a LOT of hate due to it's fizzy high gain amps.

I don't know that much about the gt1000, but you are saying basically that is has few amp models, poor ir handling and low quality effects? Just inferring from your post.
I was shocked by the price. The big spiff seems to be it's gapless switching. Maybe that's what they are having to charge so much for. As you mentioned before, its pricey to pull that off.

I guess first someone said -lets make a 1000 dolar product,there a huge potential...then realized they can't beat Helix in the same concept smile.gif

Since Katana amps were so successful (I bet beyond their expectation), they devised a concept similar to it (less is more type thing). I think its understandable why they selected a different route but how it will work time will tell.

Its so hard to compare processors with watching youtube and it will take quite some time for me to get my hands on one and spent quality time as the economy in Turkey is in such a bad shape. I read good reviews on forums but can't make an opinion yet if its actually successful or simply boss fans are praising it too much.

I think you're right. When you're Boss, you've got a large customer base who will buy your next product even if it's not as good as the competition. In that situation it's easy to become complacent and develop a product that is not very good.

They are still using COSM models in a 1k plus product. Wasn't expecting that. But evidently there are some new amp models, just not that many. I do look forward to trying the thing. If anyone gets their hands on one, please do share smile.gif

Important note that they aren't carried over amps from previous processors because for example a gt100 may be using the same code from a gt-8.

Thats why I'm guessing sice they added ir, bluetooth etc. as user requests now they'll probably start adding amps to the gt1000 and use those on future more affordable processors. The old COSM code is probably finished with the gt-1 and Katana amps.

I gotta say I hope so. I wish they'd stop calling them cosm amps. Before one even hears it, it's hard not to expect something less than great. Still hope to try one of these for myself soon as I see one in a guitar store!
