Try ESP guitars, they are usually fitted with emgs.
Tron's guitar has EMGS http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SLSMGBLK -------------------- Crysis kicked arse. Gears of War unfortunately I thought was as good as wiping cottage cheese on a cat's head Hahahaha just imagine the cat hahahah The thing about being really stupid, is that there are a zillion ways to be a moron. There are usually several ways to be intelligent, given a situation, but it is a small finite number. But there are always a zillion ways to be to blithering idiot. So finding a new way to have the intellect of an artichoke is nothing to be proud of really, it is easy to do. So true... To bad im still an artichoke haha |

That's pretty close to the Jackson SLSMG, it's a nice guitar indeed, and not that far from your budget. It has the volume control too close to the strings, check that out in case you don't like it so close.
I was going to recommend the new Epi SG prophecy series with EMGs and 24 frets, but if you are set on a start body then it's out of question. There are sme other cheaper jackson models with fixed bridge and EMGs, like Jackson DKMGT. -------------------- Guitars:

I can definetly recommend the SLSMG! The playability and sound is outstanding, but i always recommend trying it first hand first because the weight of it might not be suitable for everyone. It basically weighs the same as a parker.

I wonder what makes it so heavy? My friend has a Jackson...not an SLSMG...and it is the heaviest thing I have ever played! Not really a problem though, since I only play sitting down! It's not heavy. The SLSMG is super-lightweight -------------------- Guitars: Schecter Stiletto Classic, Jackson SLSMG, Ibanez RG-380 Japan, Gibson Les Paul Studio

Why don't you just go for the guitar that you really really like, and in case it doesn't come with EMG's just change the pickups?

A little off-topic but I like showing it off since most people have never heard of it. Gibson made a Les Paul Raw Power with EMG pickups for about 3 years. I picked one up used and absolutley love it. The only thing missing from it being a perfect guitar is that it has medium frets instead of jumbo frets. Tone is amazing and sounds totally different than my ESP Eclipse II with the same pickups. Mine came with a flamed maple top. Hoping it will be collectible some day.
