Hi guys!

I don't know if this has been posted here before (Im quite sure that it has not) but I found this great tutorial video
on how to record a good metal tone. It's basically a dude explaining a lot of different aspects of how to get a good metal tone on your recordings. There's a lot of great tips and tricks, he even shows many different mic positioning possibilities on a guitar cabinet. Check it out!

Here's the link:

Good video highly informative, but I think he's being just a touch nit-picky about everything. I doubt Eddie Van Halen recognizes half the thing he talked about, and his tone sounds awesome. I might just be making a mountain out of a molehill though. smile.gif

I've recorded a non yube amp and with a little extra elbow grease on Reaper you can get around 98 or 99 percent there.

I'll check this out when i get home in an hour- quite annoying as im at a shcool computer and the earphone jack is at the back, so in order to listen i have to flop across the table with my head by the tower as my earphones dont reach so far-

wel that may have been off topic but i need to defend my honour.....people will be giving me weird looks if i start doing that.....

They're watching you Neo.....

I can tell that this guy is very knowledgable, but man is he annoying. He goes into sooo much detail about everything. He seems to be a bit of a gear snob too. I wish he would mention that sometimes you dont want to use a tube amp, or sometimes you want to try other mics. It might give you the sound your looking for.

overall a very informative video. just hard to watch all in one sitting.

Great stuff, should only be divided into smaller videos... huh.gif

I specially liked the miking stuff. It is not intuitive at all.

Actually first time I played live I used line output of amp instead of miking it tongue.gif
