Let's use this thread to not only help others get into artists and guitarists they may have heard of but not heard, but guide them to the albums that they should start with.

For instance Gary Moore

I've always been aware of him (being in Thin Lizzy and solo), I remember him from my childhood with Out In The Fields (with Phil Lynott) and Empty Rooms, I know he ended up playing Blues/Blues Rock. I'm aware he's held up as a awesome guitarist but which albums do I start with for his more Rock stuff?

This thread has been inspired by the fact that I'm watching Gary Moore Live in Dublin on TV, and realising I don't know his music.

Gary Moore is one of my favorite guitarists, I have several of his albums but had a hard time finding more Rock oriented type albums. Finally, I found two albums on Amazon that are very Rock, but still have some Blues as well.

Blues for Jimi, a Hendrix Tribute album, full of Gary playing Hendrix covers........ http://www.amazon.com/Blues-Jimi-London-Ga...ords=gary+moore

Legacy, which is a career spanning look at all Gary did throughout the years, very Rock Oriented............http://www.amazon.com/Legacy-Gary-Moore/dp/B0090VQYPK/ref=sr_1_22?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1373746488&sr=1-22&keywords=gary+moore

You can probably find these on Itunes or some such download site as well, but I'm old fashioned and bought an actual CD smile.gif

I think one of the greatest players who combine emotions, awesome tone, precision and some skills is Andy Timmons. Very good reference playing for further developement.
