Essentials In A Pa System Upgrade -- Recommendations

Our band is looking to upgrade our PA, which now consists of an 8 channel powered mixer (Mackie 808S) and three powered monitors (three Peavy 12Ms). Thinking of replacing our two unpowered EVs with two powered Aeons (15G2s) for FOH. Also, getting a 16 channel (unpowered) Mackie and a Mackie powered subwoofer. Questions: do you recommend a crossover for the sub? What is your experience with a sonic maximizer? What other signal processors do you recommend for the rack (external compressor and limiter)? Band consists of bass, guitar, drums, keys and two front-line vocalists -- guitar amp is miced, bass currently plays through 2x10 cabinet (unmiced) and keys directly through the board. Mostly small club venues and outdoor gigs. Thanks for the help! -- Tim
