Need some advice/tips

For those who don't know the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0boqnpueDFE Solo is at about 3mins 15secs and the run I'm referring to is at about 3:20 Anyway, I'm finding it hard to get this run to sound anything like the recording. After watching the video posted above, I beleive that this is actually done using hammer-ons, so I've tried that but it just sounds very noisey. So I'm wondering if anyone here has attempted this solo and could offer some advice? Otherwise I'll just keep trying I spose.
