> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi Nadeem!

Your take sounds very nice. I like your tone and I think it fits well with the lesson.

There are a few details that need more work, but I'm sure you will be able to manage them.

0:42 - review the tab. You should start this phrase with D note (G string / 7 fret). In your take you add an E note (G string/ fret 9) and that's why you fail the timing.

0:35 - you don't play correctly this slide. After you play with your index finger the A note (B string/ 10 fret), you need to go with your ring finger on F note (E string / 13 fret) where you have a grace note that should be played. From this spot you need to start making the slide until you reach the A note (E string/17 fret).
Be very careful where you have in the tab grace notes, because you tend to miss them.

0:38 - on B string you should play one single bend with vibrato not two bends as you did in your take.

0:48 - 0:59 - The tapping part needs a little more work. I recommend practicing this section very slowly until all the notes will sound clear and clean. Also, be careful of timing and don't rush.

When you execute the vibrato, try to let the note sound first and then start the oscillations. It will improve your overall performance.

You get a 7 from me. Keep up your awesome work!

I was very happy to see a new take from you Nadeem 🤗

I think for most part your timing is very good here - which means you won half the battle!

The other half would be pitch - and here you need more work. The good news is you nail many of those bends perfectly - which tells me you have great pitch hearing and you just need to get more consistent.

The starting bend at 00:04 is off, which is a pity since after that come many good ones.

Also at 00:11, I am wondering if you release vibrato back to the starting pitch? Because to me it sounds like you are applying vibrato to a note which is already bent slightly out of tune. (it could also be a tuning / intonation issue)

All in all - this is an extremely promising take and it feels like you are just a threshold experience away from reaching a new level!

Keep up the killer work, it's an 8 from me!
