One of my guitars has a trapeze tailpiece instead of the more common stop bar or string-through.

Is there any particular advantage to this kind of tailpiece? Really the only thing I've noticed is that I need to be careful how heavy I rest my hand on the strings back there since the tailpiece floats, it'll push everything sharp pretty easy.
