Slayer had also used drop C, but also a lot of D# standard Lamb of God use drop D (all the time i think). But there are also a lot of metal bands that use standard tuning. Thrash has a very distinct sound that can only be in standard tuning. A classic death metal tuning would be tuning guitar a whole step down. DGCfad.
