Task 20: Hello, disciples of Guitar Bushido ! This time your Task is to record a version of the first lick in this video !

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RD5rsG1TDA...eature=youtu.be

I was pleasantly surprised at the popularity of recording these short licks so I thought you could use this as your Task this week. There is no specific set tempo but try to aim to improve over your starting speed smile.gif

The lick itself is a 2 note per string pattern that repeats on 2 adjacent strings. You can apply to any combination of 4 notes in any scale but it's great for whipping round in the pentatonic scale with !

Deadline will be 1 week from now, Friday 15th June

OK. So for now, I can play this at 110 bpm. At 120 bpm, I can't play it clean. I'll keep you posted of my progresses (if any...).

That's not a bad speed at all for penta 2 note licks... they're not easy and they require extra energy because of the extra movement. Even people who can blaze through 3 note per string licks can find it tough going with these bad boys ! smile.gif

Hey,
I have to post something tonight cause I won't be able to play the next few days (or not a lot).
I've been spending time on this exercise. The best I could do was 125 bpm. At 130 bpm, i loose control.
I think I deserve a donut for that job smile.gif

Hi Ben

End of the Week again - I've done a couple of takes one at 120bpm just the 4 note lick and one at 110bpm going down the pentatonic scale.
I found with the 4 note lick I had a bit of trouble keeping it going for long periods.

120bpm

110bpm

Good Stamina Grind!

PS Mr Sensei Very cool Micheal Angelo Batio lesson - Crazy stuff!

Hail Zoom ! smile.gif

I love the fact you put a groovy drum beat in with it as well.. it's like you really care for your listeners and want them to get more out of it biggrin.gif

Generally pretty good.. your fingers have a tendency to change position a bit too early, believe it or not, so try and watch out for that if you can. Your picking hand wants to follow your fingers when they move so if you make sure the info you're putting in with left hand is good then the right hand has a better chance of being in the groove with it as well.

Thanks for the takes smile.gif

Oh, and cheers ! Nearly killed me to make it but it was worth it I think wink.gif

Hello Ben, I had already added that exercise to my daily routine as one of my warm-up exercises.
I had it up to 88 bpm at the beginning of this week.
The video is at 96 bpm. (so close to the 3-digit speed barrier) smile.gif

Excellent results Moss !! Sounds really clean and it looks ultra relaxed. These licks are great because they're so usable but they also develop your 'outside' picking, which many people find tough. Nice work ! smile.gif
