I like the fact that people like Tosin Abasi, who I've only recently become aware of in the last few months or so, have taken guitar playing to a different place creatively. Him and a lot of other 8 and 7 stringers have truly opened up the capabilities of what's possible on the guitar and that's a great thing. In terms of rhythm, the new generation of guitarists are solid.. they're coming up with mind bending stuff. I was watching this the other day.. bloody incredible How dare people be so damn good ?
