Ok, im starting this topic for anyone out there who is looking for examples of recording setups.
I would like people to post their home studio's with a list of equipment/setup/pros and cons/price/etc (and maybe even a picture?) I feel this would help anyone wanting to try and set up their own studio i'll post mine as an example post. LIST OF EQUIPMENT Not very good pc M-Audio Delta 66 with breakout box stereo speakers with subwoofer Line 6 POD X3 Live Cubase SX3 EZDrummer DESCRIPTION The M-Audio Delta 66 with breakout box is a proffessional sound card that slots into my motherboard, it has a box which connects to the coundcard allowing 1/4" jack inputs (there are inputs on the sound card but i never use them). On this box there are 4 inputs and 4 outputs (or 2 of each when acting stereo). I connect my speakers to 2 outputs giving me stereo sound. I have listed examples of how i record instrements below. EXAMPLES GUITAR/MIC/BASS The guitar/mic/bass plugs into the POD X3 Live and uses its patches and tones which then gets sent to 2 inputs (stereo) which then record seperatly on 2 different tracks in cubase. KEYBOARD I plug the keyboard straight into one of the inputs and record onto one track on cubase. DRUMS For drums I use EZDrummer, however i attempted to record drums using a mixer with 16 inputs which then output to one of the inputs on my PC, I had very little mixing choices once recorded as all drums were on one track. PRO'S -this setup is great for recording everything but drums -very easy to use -allows latency free monitoring of what your playing -can be used as an amp/PA when using the POD X3 CON'S -not enough inputs for drums -when plugging straight into the inputs with a microphone/guitar/etc you need a preamp as the signal is too weak -fairly costly PRICES POD X3 - £300 M-Audio Delta 66 - £130 Speakers - £80 Cubase SX3 - cant remember now, think i payed around £80 for it from a friend EZDrummer - £79 TOTAL - Around £670 (without leads/guitars/mics/etc) This post has been edited by muntahunta: Jan 4 2008, 10:18 PM -------------------- Guitars: Epiphone Les Paul Standard w/ Dual EMG 81 Pickups. How did you get the NI Kore free? They had a promotion in which it was free if you bought 3 or more other NI products. I bough NI Komplete 4 which has about 10 products in it so I got Kore for free. To be honest, I don;t use it much, I think it would rock for a keyboard player, but I don't need another interface and I don't need the tweakability of keyboard patches that it gives you, since I usually pick one or 2 pads and bases and leave it at that - the guitar is where all the action is! How do you find the Behringer monitors? I have HiFI speakers at the moment and whilst they are good they aren't ideal monitors. I really want a pair of Adam A7s but that will take some significant saving -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile
