I mean the pedal with the crunchiest...nastiest...most hard core distortion! I have heard the Boss Metal Core is pretty harsh. What do you guys like best?

Metal Muff sounds is pretty versatile. I use mine for everything from Death Metal, Black Metal then roll off the distortion to about 9'o clock then you got some pretty rocking blues tone.

Metal Muff definitely. If it's good enough for the sword it's good enough for me.

Boss has a "DEATH METAL PEDAL" out and ive heard its rediculous.. to the point alot of guys wont even bother with it because its just dumb to have that much distortion tongue.gif Metal Muff is good but i really love the sound of the Damage Control Distortion and i like the sound of the Krank Disortus Maxiumus but i can't afford either sad.gif

some people said Digitech Death Metal pedal works and sounds better when playing on a tube amp. I guess majority of pedals works better on tube haha. But you know Metal Muff for me at least sounds better on a solid state, because it sounds pretty hairy, not in a good way, on my friends tube amp.

I only used two different distortion pedals in my life, and both are awesome in my opinion. One is THE classic among distortion pedals, the Ibanez Tube Screamer, the other one is Marshalls Gov'ner II. Both rule in my opinion and give you a great sound.

Marcus and Marcus mentioned these two pedals, and I heard only them in play, so I can testify.

- Boss Metal Zone 2 - versatile edgy and scoopy boss metal, best suitable for trash
- Marshall Guvnor II - more compressed, and warmer sound, suitable for classic metal

Regarding Metal Muff, I've only heard good words about it, and literally only good words, so I suggest consider trying that one out as well.

Yup, the tube screamer rules big time, I still have 3 of them, even though I don't need them with my Boogies, but who knows, maybe one day I want to play my Marshall again and then I will need this bit of extra gain smile.gif

This is awesome! I have the Metal Muff and the original Guv'nor. My favorite sound to date is the Metal Muff into the Guv'nor (12 O'Clock High). The Muff gives all the grind and the Guv Marshallizes it. laugh.gif laugh.gif
