Sounds pretty weird huh? Well, it's also weird that "i comes before e except after "c", except for the word "weird".. go figure. In any case, when you bend a note, do you envision anything?

Whenever I bend a note, I actually envision squeezing the wavelength til it folds - there's a point in a bend when the wavelength feels and sounds like it transitions - you know when you take a piece of string by both ends and pull it tight, the center goes into a vibrating wave length then begins to slow down - then if you pull it tighter, it almost comes alive again as if you're injecting new energy into it to keep it going longer?

When I bend a note, I actually listen to the tone of the bend as I bend it and am aiming to sqeeze it into a caustic vibration - in a sense, I'm trying to fold that wavelength so that I can hear it churn. It feels like I'm trying to squeeze the note enough for it to fold, then ride it with vibrato to force the sound waves to fold, then unfold, then fold again - the transition between the folds is what gives me the sense of a caustic tone - I'm listening for the note to growl. It's so hard to describe. I'm curious whether you find yourself envisioning your bends in a similar way? It's something I've always done, but I never really tried to express it in words.

When you bend a note, are you doing something similar?
