Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Emir, it's awesome to hear your tasty chops again in the REC section after more than 10 years 👊❤️

Just as we have come to expect, you deliver this with authority and your playing just oozes musicality.

To give you extra edge, I would would consider dialing down the distortion a bit - and/or experiment with different sounds/patches. You sure have the chops to rely less on distortion/compression and this would give you a new toolbox of dynamics and tone to work with.

There is also some gains to be had in your timing - this is especially obvious when the melody kicks in at 00:32. Your playing here is already very tasty - but what if you deliberately tried to hold back a little and play behind the beat? That kind of stuff can take you to a new level of expression.

There are some smaller issues relating to the articulation of those sweeps, and timing of the very last note - but overall this is an amazing take. You get an 8 from me!

Hi Emir!

This is a really cool playing. Overall, I like your take very much but I think you already know that at this level every single detail counts. There are a few things that can be polished in order to sound even more awesome.

First of all, I don't like the fact that you replaced most of the alternate picking parts (as example 0:35). Besides the fact that you skipped one of the techniques from this lesson, keep in mind that the picking direction choice has always a purpose (tonal or groove one).

0:15; 0:30 - from the rhythmical point of view, you changed these licks because you added more pick strikes.

0:39 - review the tab at the beginning of the lick you added one more note.

0:41 - you added a pinch harmonics which has no sense. It did not end the lick in a cool way. Also, you accented this so much that you put in shadow exactly the next note with pinch harmonics which should have shone.

0:55 - the sweep picking is not clean enough. The notes should be heard very clearly and equally. On the first sweep you overlap the sound of the notes and on the third sweep can't be heard all the notes.

As general advice, be a little more careful at string noises and accents.

Besides what I wrote above, I have no other complaints. You get an 8 from me.

Hello Emir! Nice to see a new REC take from you! nice guitar!

The truth is that your level is very good and you can reproduce each of Jonathan's phrases and licks with great consistency. Maybe you could tweak the final fast passage a bit but beyond that, if you want to continue working on this lesson, I think the focus should be on your guitar sound. I think it would be nice if you could adjust the parameters so that you have a little less drive, without losing sustain, and also adjust the EQ balance a little bit.

The idea would be that you achieve a slightly clearer tone, which stands out more in the mix and at the same time allows you to put more emphasis on the dynamics of your phrasing.

Beyond that, I must congratulate you on your level as a guitarist.

Keep on rockin'!
