Hello Monica,

Guess what... I went in against your order to raise the tempo tongue.gif

Before I'm going to raise the tempo, I wanted to fix the issues that you pointed out first wink.gif

So I did some work on the issues at 70bpm and I think I solved them (mostly biggrin.gif )

Analysis:
0-1.00: don't have issues here
1.11: did I let down this bend slow enough?
1.20: I think this part has improved well
1.23-1.25: this part also sounds better
1.26: maybe this note is played too soon?
1.42: I have worked on the timing of this note. Is it good now?
1.55-2.04: I have tried not to rush the last slides now
2.05: I stopped the note now
2.10: unfortunately I could not let the fat cat sing at the end laugh.gif (no sustain left rolleyes.gif )

I think this take is an improvement and from my point if view the main issues are fixed.

Let me hear what you think wink.gif

Have a great evening!

Gert

Gert

Hi Gert!

Hahaha...if you didn't feel ready to raise the tempo, it's not a problem. biggrin.gif We can spend more time at this speed.

You are right, from what I see, some of the issues have been solved. That's awesome!!! smile.gif

0:11 - wrong bend (too low)

0:47 - this bend doesn't have a perfect pitch

1:06 - the last B note (12 fret/ B string) can't be heard

1:07 - this bend has a lower pitch than it should be. At 1:09 you played this bend correctly.

1:11 - you let down the bend slow enough but you played this release too early and that's why you failed the timing in this spot.

1:25 - wrong timing. You played the first notes earlier than you should.

1:42 - the slide from D to E ( G string/ 7th to 9th fret) is not played correctly. You need to play this a little faster and without putting accent on the D note.

1:54 - 2:02 - all these slides don't sound perfect yet. You need a little more precision when you play on higher frets.

2:04 - this detail is played very beautifully. You respected the timing and the note is stopped now. Awesome!!! smile.gif

Your playing gets better and better. Great work!!! smile.gif

For next time, try to fix all the issues that I pointed out.

Have a great evening!

Hi again Monica,

Very productive day today biggrin.gif

I made a new take to see if I have been able to fix the issues you pointed out last time. Unfortunately after some takes the high E-string snapped again sad.gif At the same place as 2 weeks ago... So I have to go back to the luthier because he has to fix this issue! Every 2, 3 weeks the high E-string snaps...

I wanted to make a slightly better one then this take, but it does have big mistakes and I think it's an improvement compared to the last one...

Analysis:
10: I think now the pitch is correct
1.08: unwanted string noise
1.11: letting that bend down was not good + unwanted string noise
1.20: again unwanted string noise + pitch too high
2.04: this time I did not stop at the correct note

I wanted to try to fix the issues above in a new take but in the next attempt, my high E-string snapped...

Have a good evening!

Gert

Hi again Gert!

Yep, looks like you rock today! laugh.gif

I'm sorry to hear that you have problems again with the E string. Definitely, it's an issue which must be solved because it's not normal to break this string so often.

0:10 - this bend is not in a correct pitch. (the one from 0:06 is great)

0:47 - this bend it's played a little bit later than it should.

1:11 - yes you are right, the release of the bend is played too early. tongue.gif

1:38 - not a good pitch for this bend

1:42 - this slide (from D to E) is not fixed yet. You still put the accent and keep the D note too long. After you play the D note, start to make the slide because we need to have the accent on E note.

The final slides sound way better today. You still need to play them with more precision (mostly on higher frets) but, compared with the last take, I notice a huge improvement.

Overall, this lesson started to sound nice. You did a really great work!!! smile.gif

For next time, I really think you are ready to raise the tempo a little.

Have a great evening!

And I'm back again!! laugh.gif

One broken string does not stop me!! That's why we need TWO guitars, hahahahaha.

With changing guitars... I needed 67 takes to get to this one rolleyes.gif

But to my opinion it's an awesome one!! Hope you agree...

Oooh, I made some changes to the sound and I think it sounds better now.

Analysis:
38: A very very little too late I think here
50: with my other guitar, this part goes better because better sustain.
1.13: my 'sign' says enough laugh.gif
1.23: the slights sound better and also are more easy to do on my other guitar.

Overall very very happy with this take. Here I can see very clearly the result of the musical bootcamp!

Have a great evening and I go change some strings now... again mad.gif biggrin.gif

Hi again Gert!

Hahaha..... two guitars are always better than one. laugh.gif

This take is the cherry on top and brought me a huge smile on my face. smile.gif
We worked so much on each detail, we counted and repeated each part millions of times, but it was worth each second that we spent.

Apart from 0:38, where you are right, it's played a bit too late and a few bends (0:07; 0:48; 0:59) which don't have a perfect pitch, I have no complaints.

You respected all the details that we worked on together and your vibrato started to look and sound really nice (if we compare your new vibrato with the one from your last take, the progress that you have made is unbelievable).
Apart from 0:38, you don't have timing issues. Everything is fixed and played correctly and the slides part has the precision that we wanted. smile.gif

Hahaha...1:13 .....yes....your sign told everything. laugh.gif When I heard that detail played correctly, I said loudly "Yeessss". laugh.gif

The tone is perfect now. Has enough gain on it. smile.gif

What can I say....amazing take!!! I'm very, very, veeery proud of you!!! smile.gif
I also think that this recording shows how successful our musical bootcamp was. I know how much work was behind each detail and I honestly congratulate you on your awesome attitude and dedication.
Your progress is huuuge!!!

For next time, you can raise the speed (I will let you choose how much). biggrin.gif

Have a great evening!

Hi Monica,

Thank you for your kind words! When I listened to this take yesterday, I was proud of myself laugh.gif because I knew this take is indeed a cherry laugh.gif
But again... it's not only my merit. You played a very big part in this! I know I already said it a few times, but thanks again for your effort and time. It proves our bootcamp payed of big time. If there was no bootcamp, I would not have reached this level yet. It would have taken some more weeks. But with the bootcamp we have speed up things noticeably.

About the speed... this take was at 55bpm (I guess). Have to check when I'm back home.
The original speed is at 70. I will try 60 and 65 bpm and see what speed I can handle at this moment and then decide...

Cheers,
Gert

Hi Gert!

Indeed, our bootcamp made you gain new skills sooner than we had planned and that's awesome!!! We succeeded in a few days to solve technical details that normally would have lasted around 2-3 months.
I'm very happy with the results of our team. smile.gif

Increasing the tempo with 5-10 BPM is a perfect choice for the next step. wink.gif

Have a great day!

Hi Monica,

Back with a new (killer in my opninion biggrin.gif ) take of this beautiful lesson.

I choose to raise the tempo by only 5bpm laugh.gif So now we are at 60 bpm. 10bpm away from original tempo.

Here's the take... hope you enjoy it!

Analysis:
0-42: first part is flawless I think cool.gif
47: this note should be played better
52-58: happy how this part sounds
1.31: I cut the video too short laugh.gif

I have worked hard the past 2 weeks on this lesson and I'm happy with this result!

It can be polished some more here and there but I'm confident it will be ready in time for REC smile.gif

Very curious about your opinion now cool.gif

Cheers,
Gert

Hi Gert!

Yesss....today we have a new amazing (almost killer laugh.gif ) take from you. I love it!!!! smile.gif

There are just a few tiny details that need a little more attention.

0:41 - you started a bit late. Don't forget to count 1,2,3,4,5 and then start playing the slide. laugh.gif

0:50 - you started to play this bend a little earlier.

0:52 - wrong note on the G string. Instead of making the slide from A to B (14-16 fret), you played the slide from A to A# (14 - 15 fret). tongue.gif

1:16 - 1:21 - the slides part. Be careful to not rush the slides and also play them with more precision. You have moments when you give me the feeling that you will gonna fail them. Be more confident when you play this part.

I have no other complaints. You did an amazing job and I'm very, veeeery proud of you!!!! smile.gif
I'm really impressed with how well this lesson works. Your progress is huge!!!

For next time, you can raise the tempo again. biggrin.gif

Hello Monica,

This take was posponed last week due to certain new things that have arrived at my place biggrin.gif

But here it is... a new take on the winter ballad at 65bpm!

Analysis:
0-34: no mistakes spotted
32: Last time timing was not good here but I think now it's good
49: This note should be more legato
1.03: timing is still good here tongue.gif
1.16: the last note of the slide should be a little bit better
1.20: I hit a death note here just before the last slide back

I'm very pleased with this take! A few tiny mistakes as usual but I think I'm ready for full speed!!

Do you think the same? biggrin.gif

Cheers,
Gert

Hi Gert!

Hahaha.... it seems that Santa Claus visited you earlier. laugh.gif We are a good team....I made the Christmas tree and you received the present. laugh.gif
The postponement of the take was understandable. biggrin.gif

You came up today with a very beautiful take. Of course, there are a few tiny mistakes, but it still remains a really good take.

0:05 - very slightly loosing of the pitch in the middle of vibrato.

0:47 - wrong timing. You started the bend earlier than it should.

0:49 - no, no, no.....wrong note. laugh.gif You made the same mistake as in your previous take. Be very, very, vereeery careful when you make this slide. You need to go with the slide from A to B (14 -16 fret) not from A to A# (14 - 15 fret). tongue.gif

1:16 - yes, you have right the last note of the slide it doesn't sound great.

Awesome work!!! I'm very proud of you!!!

Definitely you are ready for full speed. biggrin.gif

Have a great day!

Hi again Monica,

And yes... I also have prepared a take on the winter ballad lesson. And because we are at full speed, it could be a potential REC take biggrin.gif

Here's the take!

45: I hope this time I finally played the correct notes laugh.gif tongue.gif

It's the first take at full speed. Do you have some polishing tips before putting it into REC?

Cheers again,

Gert

Hi again Gert!

I can't believe that we are already doing this lesson at full speed. smile.gif

Each take from now is considered to be a potential REC candidate. wink.gif

Let's analyze your take:

0:03 - wrong pitch of the bend (too low)

0:11 - 0:13 - not a perfect timing. You delayed the pull-off a little.

0:26 - too fast release of the bend

0;37 - be more confident and go directly in the bend. Avoid leaving the feeling that you are searching for the correct pitch.

0:41 - take care of unwanted string noises

0:44 - 0:47 - Yeessss, now it's correct!!! laugh.gif Very beautiful!!! I'm so happy to see that you fixed the wrong note and also the bend sounds really awesome!!! Great work!!! cool.gif

0:48 - one note sounds blocked and also be careful at the timing when you play the last note.

1:04 - 1:09 - the slides part is not played in a good timing. You need to play the slides a little faster.

1:10 - make more audible the last note of the slide ( G note/B string/fret 20).

Overall, this take sounds really nice. I'm very proud of you!!! smile.gif Probably you need a little more time to get used to the new speed and that's why you had some timing issues.

I wish to see you executing the same beautiful vibrato in the other lessons that you practice. laugh.gif

For next time, try to fix all the things that I pointed out.

Have a great evening!

Hello Monica,

Second attempt on full speed of this winter ballad (although temperature wise NO winter feeling at all in Belgium laugh.gif )

I have tried to fix the issues and I feel comfortable to the original speed of this lesson. This take sounds more 'glued'.

Here it is... enjoy!

Await your judgement as always biggrin.gif

Cheers,
Gert

Hi Gert!

In Romania, at this hour we have 13 degree. So...no winter feeling. laugh.gif

Definitely your take sounds more glued this time and I really love this. smile.gif

Unfortunately, your take has too many timing issues (I will point out each spot). We need to fix these parts before the REC section. Believe me, with a little more polishing your performance will shine.
I know you have the perfect skills to solve all these issues and I'm very sure that you can make your take be a success in REC.

0:43 - you played the bend earlier than should be

0:49 - 0:50 - wrong timing. You kept the G note (E string/fret 15) too long and because of that you delayed the A note. Also, the A note should be played shorter. Listen carefully to how Sinisa plays the A note.

0:56 - 0:58 - you have a delay between F# (B string/7 fret) and the slide from D to E (G string). Don't stay longer in the F#. Keep in mind that the notes G, F# (B string) and D (G string) have the same value.

1:04 - 1:10 - the slide part still has timing issues. The first three slides are played correctly, but the rest of them need to be played faster.

1:10 - the last slide from the notes E to G (B string/ frets 17 to 20) should also be played faster.

1:11 - be careful when you need to start playing the last 3 notes. You delayed the beginning a little.

Overall, you did an awesome work and I'm very, very, very proud of you. smile.gif I love how you made the vibrato, bends and a lot of other details. If we fix the timing issues, your take will sound absolutely amazing!!! smile.gif

Have a great day!

Hello Monica,

I present to you REC attempt number 3 of this beautiful winter ballad. Finally the weather is starting to match this lesson laugh.gif

I have played numerous times together with the main video to solve all the timing issues. Today was all about a good take and it took me just over 100 blink.gif

But I'm very happy and proud of this take smile.gif

Enjoy and let me know what you think...

Cheers,
Gert

Hi Gert!

You came up with a really awesome take. smile.gif It's clear that you worked and you succeeded in fixing the timing issues.

There are just two spots where you rush a little (0:51; 1:09) and you also have moments where we can hear some unwanted string noises (0:45 - 0:48 and 1:10).

Overall, I think you did an amazing work. I'm very proud of you!!! You can post this take in the REC section. biggrin.gif
Congrats on such an awesome result!!! You rock!!! cool.gif

Have a great day!
