Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Neoclassical Three-Level-Lesson, Intermediate by Marcus Lavendell

Thanks for your input on my previous take! I decided to try another one, which I think is a bit better. I'm not sure what the procedure is for submitting a retake. It didn't want to seem to let me do it. This is the beginner solo not the intermediate one. I tried a new recording method for this one and I had some issues syncing the video with the backing track and with the guitar. I did my best but I know it isnt perfect here. If anyone has some suggestions for recording video and audio that would be fantastic! I'm using a macbook pro and a PODxt. Thanks again everyone! :)

It is indeed a little better, but still, your timing needs more work on it! Try the thing with tapping the foot, as I suggested on your previous take wink.gif

Timing issue, work on it ! The second : still have problems with vibrato, original goes with much more amplitude, while your vibrato is too short and tight, relax a bit wink.gif

It is a bit better for sure but the timing issue still remains. Not to worry though, you can overcome this !

You've got the licks down fine, and your bending and vibrato has plenty of attitude and shows signs of promise !

When I'm having trouble with learning something, I break it down into different points of focus and work on each one seperately before bringing it together. Your vibrato, bending, picking etc is all fine so forget them for a bit and focus only on the pacing of the licks over the beat.

Play along with Marcus's take so you can hear exactly when you are in and when you are out. Keep playing it this way until you know exactly how the solo fits over the backing and then you can focus on the big picture again smile.gif

I must agree that although it is a bit better, you still need to carefully analyze guitar pro file and Marcus timing on this one. Try to tap your foot, and work very slowly within each bar. You should understand that each note you play has a place within a bar. When practicing with a click you should remember where those notes are, just as you remembered where you need to fret them. Keep working on it.

I agree with the other instructors. You have to work on the timing, it's different from the original. I think that it will help if you practice the lesson over the main video and trying to follow Macus soloing. Keep on working hard! wink.gif
