I am thinking about replacing the stock EMG-HZ pickups in my Jackson SLS guitar. I want passive pickups with a high output to be able to play high gain metal but I want the guitar to not sound exactly like my ESP guitar with EMG81/60 pickups.

I found a link to Irongear pickups site in MickeM's thread and after reading reviews it looks like a very nice pickup for its price.

Anyone here own or played these pickups? I am looking at the Irongear Steam Hammer.

Dunno really.. hehe but they are supposed to be good passive pickups for metal if you read the reviews..

They are so cheap I might just order them regardless. On the other hand they are so cheap that I kinda wonder if they can really be any good hehe.

I can get both neck and bridge pickup including shipping to sweden and taxes for £56.40 (€66.32, US$93.43 Approx.) which is well... very little smile.gif

it's difficult to decide when you didn't heared the sound of the pickup, but € 66 for neck & bridge is cheap, but like you said i don't know if they can be good for that price, i'm not a metal player so wouldn't buy these tongue.gif good luck .
