> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi friend!

It's true that this lesson is over your current level but it's not bad to sometimes jump into an advanced lesson, even without mastering it at the moment it can help to polish your playing. The main problems of this one are clear and are related to cleanness of fast licks (0:47 to 0:55/ 1:16 to 1:28), pitch of bending (00:10 and many other ones), articulation (00:46 / 00:55) and timing (mostly on fast licks).

As this lesson helps to identify the elements that need more work, you could build a practice plan with complementary exercises that help you keep on training your playing based on this topics:

- Alternate Picking (Speed and hands sync)
- Bending
- Legato

For articulation work, I recommend you to analyze more how Diego plays each phrase and emulate the length of notes, how he reach them and little details like slides, trills and legato.

Keep on the hard work!

Hey again Tim!

Phrasing and dynamics lesson have different type of difficultiy than shred/speed lessons. A lot of details hidden under each note, ornaments and tension built by specific rhtyhtm variations. Gabriel is right about the idea of choosing lessons above your current level to spot things to workout.

Tone - I feel it's a bit to much of reverb here and it could be in the wrong place (signal chain). Make sure reverb plug-in or section is alwasy at the very end of signal chain - especially after any kinds of distortion (stomp or amp). Something here sound oversaturated - it might be a reverb being distorted, master bus distortion or jus ta "Weird kind of distortion. Somehow is getting wrong for sure. You should be able to get almost clean tone while playing very soft. In the original lesson it sounds like Diego is using a top boost in front of the amp but it's mostly for boosting dynamics response than drive (it could bee tube screamer simulation with drive to 0, tone around 75% and level above the 50%).

I think this is a kind of lesson for a long run type of workout. I would go for taking 2 or 4 bars max at once at workthem out until you can actually play a perfect double of Diego's take. At them moment there are many spots where at least the rhythm goes out of control. A few spots inclue unwanted noise form open strings and a few bends need to be polish (for example beginning baned needs to be more regular pitch wise - constant pitch increasement without a break up point like you did (sort of cut in half )

IT was nice to see you challenging somehitng harder. It was a good idea to post it here smile.gif
