He's by far one of the most original guitarists of recent times..
Ofc he's not a shredder, but his riffing definately rocks hard!

i'm excited to see how this turns out but i predict that it's going to be way too metal/shred guitarist oriented. learning how to play a style (metal for example) even to a near-perfect degree does not (in my opinion) make a player deserving of "best guitarist ever", it just means you're great at making a certain kind of music. however cliche this sounds, i think most of "the best guitarists ever" are either dead or already honored in best-of lists.

HOWEVER.. i am very excited with this idea, and can't wait to see how it turns out.

Tom definatly has a very unique style of his own but just my opinion i couldnt say he is oneof the 20 GReatest guitarist of all time.I used to listen to Rage back in the day ,but honestly his style is all effect driven and simple notes.He got really sorry once he started playing in Audioslave.Not saying he's not good but just not my type of player

Then why not post your top 20 to even it out more ?The more people that vote the more we will see different styles.Also i dont care for Jazz or really anything other than Metal and shred but look at my top 20 and tell me its all metal Ofcourse thats the most popular style mostly on here but i think everybody is giving different idea's and style's we just need to get your's in now

Ok, I am going to agree with your list except for a few things Spider.

Jimi Hendrix wouldn't be my # 1, I'd add John Petrucci and Yngwie in there.

That can be my list.

You know what, I can understand Slash. I put him there because I feel his playing translates into attitude better than almost anyone. But I can see why he wouldnt belong in the top 20.

However, why do you think MAB wouldn't make the list?

Well to be honest, I don't think Hendrix should be number one because he didn't take the guitar as far as people think. Pete Townshend did A LOT also but he never really gets mentioned for that.

MAB wouldn't be on my list because I don't think he changed the guitar in a big way. Yeah he did take shred to another level but so did Petrucci and Yngwie.

that'll definitely happen. I think there'll be a lot of unrest when we debate who deserves the coveted no. 1 spot.

Also, I think there are folks who would hunt me down (and the panel) if we didn't mention some guitarists. If we dont mention Bjorn Berge I think Robin might leave GMC and try to kill me

I think MAB deserves to be on the list and here's why I think he is an insanly great guitar player,i believe he was the first person to put 2 guitars together and shred on them with both hands at the same time.That alone i feel should put him up there. Just how i feel and i should have put him on my list but i was trying to stay out of the whole ''your just listing metal player's and shredder's thing ''
