Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Acoustic Solo C Major by Lian Gerbino

Hi,

I have been working on this lesson since june together with Gab in my mentoring thread.
There is a few places where vibrato and timing could have been better.

Thank you in advance, have a nice day smile.gif

Hi Alex!

You came up with a very enjoyable take. It's clear that you work hard and your progress becomes visible. Also, I like how well you executed the natural harmonics.

Your vibrato looks better but still requires additional work (you already know this).

0:05; 0:11; 0:18; 0:20, etc - in these spots, you have in lesson a very cool detail. It's a hammer-on which will give a totally different flavor to your take. Would be awesome if you could add this to your playing.

0:07 - You should make a vibrato on the second F note of the B string.

0:26 - You played the first note late and because of that you are out of timing.

0:36 - 0:40 - Try not to make a pause between these notes. This lick should have a very fluid sound. Don't hurry your pinky and ring finger so fast. Stretch your fingers more and do the movement at the last moment.

0:43 - 0:51 - Your left hand doesn't look good at all. Please, for this particular part, review your left hand fingering. You need to use your pinky finger. It's something that will help your further development. Try to fix this before it turns out into a bad habit.

I'm sure you can fix those details that I wrote above. Today you get a 7 from me.

Keep up your awesome work! smile.gif

Very nice Alex - I am sensing quite an improvement here in your tone, well done!

As you keep improving your hand sync, vibrato and timing - I would strongly recommend you make sure you always try to fret as close as possible to the (upper) fret wire. This has numerous advantages, since you get better tone with less finger pressure. This allows you to play more relaxed, which in turn allows for more speed, accuracy and control.

When doing so - you will find it even more critical to work out the best fingering - which allows you to reach the right placement with least effort. And as Monica pointed out there are some spots here in need of your attention.

Overall your progress is very inspiring - keep it up 😎

Impressive work!! Acoustic is such a different beast to electric. The finger pressure required is much greater and vibrato takes a great deal more power as well. As such, it's very impressive that you are able to fret with your pinky. You show a lot of finger control on this one and finger power as well. The notes are all clean and clear which is a victory in itself. I won't repeat all of the great suggestions that Monica made, but I will say I think she is spot on. This shows some real progress but there are a few things that could use a bit more polish. Still, I'm impressed with your work here and it's a solid 7 from me!
